Neuropsych testing next week
I have my neuropsychology testing next week. I heard there are questions designed to trick you to see if you are faking it? Now I'm scared to death about taking it and answering things wrong. Any advice on what to expect, what I should do? Thanks

There are not questions designed to TRICK you to see if you are faking it. There ARE questions that ask you the same question various ways over time that are compared to see if your answers are the same each time. Someone who is answering truthfully will have similar answers. If you psych yourself out trying to find them, you will likely struggle with your answers. If you just answer to the best of your ability and knowledge, you will do fine.
You should not try to prepare for a NeuroPsych Assessment. In fact, if you get a poor nights sleep, I think it will help your struggles become evident. So, don't change anything about your normal daily routine. I've had three NPA's. They are a bit tedious but the report is valuable to understanding what your brain is doing. Just do your best and you will be fine. My best to you. Mark |

Don't worry so much about it if you can. It's not a test as in right and wrong answers. The point of Neuropsychological testing is not to see if you are pretending to have symptoms (why would we do that anyway  ). It's more about evaluating your strengths and weaknesses in different areas and then taking the steps, if needed, to receive appropriate guidance regarding recovery and treatment. Just do the best you can. As Almost has said, be prepared that it will be a little draining. Request a copy of the results when they're available.
