Ty,
I have been wearing earplugs for mowing the lawn to tractors to motorcycles since teen age years and more recently sleeping since pcs. I also used them flying along with noise canceling headsets...haven't flown since my accident. The noise canceling headsets are a fabulous leap forward in headsets but earplugs are easy , comfortable and you forget they are there. The only thing I have to say is they are great. Bud |
Just an FYI - If you do a forum search here on TBI/PCS forum you can find a lot of really helpful older threads/posts where these were discussed.

They cancel out external noise and noise which spills out from my iPod. A quick Google will give you a list of reliable suppliers - you get what you pay for - I am currently using Shure SE535s which are not cheap but there are many others. |
We've done a lot of earplug and head phone discussion. As Bud says, noise cancelling head phones work great. There are also noise canceling ear plugs. Some get fitted for custom musician's earplugs at hearing aid clinics. There are some
I use the cheap yellow foam ear plugs. There is a brand called Mack's that are rated best. They are available in a flesh tone to be less noticeable. Amazon has lots to choose from. |
I have custom made ear plugs (the type the musician wear) and noise canceling headsets.
I find the ear plugs work best for "going out" or family gathering. I am able to talk with a small group of people and not hear everyone else. They work well when I am in town or around crowds of people. https://www.westone.com/defendear/in...=10&Itemid=115 Noise canceling helps around the house or at the store. I use them the to listen to books or music mostly. |
