boxing
so i been boxing for 3 years
back in mid october i sparred (nothing unusual), i felt ok for the next few days. saturday, went to a bar and had a beer.. sunday slept on hardwood floor with sleeping bag.. monday while bussing, i felt really nauseated and threw up. since then, i been having headaches (small), but no more nausea. went to doctor, they said PCS.. NO scans done. they said no worries... late-nov / early-dec my eyes constantly feel like theres something in em and water a lot lately... it gets a lot worse whenever i exercise... what is going on :confused: am i at risk of brain hemorrage?? |
It does not sound like any of your symptoms put you at risk of hemorrhage. Many with PCS cannot exercise beyond a mild walk or bike ride. Your years of boxing has put your brain at risk.
If you lose motor control, get an intense headache, struggle to talk, get to an ER. But that would be rare. You are months past any risk period. If you feel like this for such a prolonged time, your boxing days are over. You are at the wrong place for support if you plan on returning to boxing. It is hard to understand a sport where the goal is to inflict brain damage on the opponent while putting oneself at risk of the same brain damage. Most of us just want to return to a livable life without any contact sports. |

I've sparred before and got my concussion this way. I'm assuming those are PCS symptoms but i never had those type of symptoms to be honest. I do know that when someone has taken a bad punch their eyes get glassy like watery. So this may be what you are describing. I would not spar again. If you do wait at least a year. But honestly i think you now have a pre-existing condition. And who knows what can happen if you take a proper punch. Further brain damage for sure. Brain hemorrhage? Possible. Good luck. |
I gained my concussion through sparring in martial arts, which I still suffer with one year on. Never again, and I advise you do the same unless you want to spend the rest of your life with all kinds of horrendous problems. It's not worth it, brains are soft and fragile.

could be throwing your tear ducts out of wack for some reason. The best thing to do is mild aerobic activity. like walking. Don't do anything really strenuous for a while would be my advice. You could bring symptoms back full bore if you exercise to hard. I've had 6 concussions in about 5 years. Last one was a year and a half ago. Stay away from anything that slows down the brain for a while. That includes alcohol, benzodiazapines, benadryl, sleeping pills....etc. They all would bring my symptoms back a bit and slowed down the healing process. When I started walking I would be able to feel things start get back to normal within a couple weeks. You definitely want to stay the heck away from boxing for a while. And if you ever decide to go back make sure you work out your neck. They have evidence now that a strong neck acts as a shock absorber for head impacts. I've always had a skinnier neck....go figure:D |
idontwannaname has never come back after his 2 posts on 12/16.
