Dry socket slight increase in pain after 14 days

I just wondered if anyone else noticed a slight increase in pain after this time? I'm feeling a bit fed up because two days ago I thought the socket was finally about healed but I could still see some packing material there. I've noticed that there is hardly any packing material now and wondered if this was why the pain has increased a little? I have had it packed twice and really don't want to have it done again as I suspect it may be delaying the healing process, and the pain isn't too bad. I suppose I'm just looking for reassurance. I have no swelling or temperature so no infection.

Hi shell,

The pain should not be increasing 2 weeks post op. The packing can be holding food debris which could be irritating and cause some pain. But that is not definite. So the only sure way to know what is going on is for the dentist to visually see it.
