i am new to this forum.

i belonged to brain talk for many years. learned a lot about pn.

tens units and cold water really help to ease your pain. in 2000 i found a chiro who had a unit that put out 400 volts. my pain was # 15 for three months. never felt the 400 volts until 4 treatments. when i could only stand 15 volts after 42 treatments i bought a tens unit.

Hi George. Welcome to NeuroTalk. This is a great place with caring people. i too belonged to Braintalk from about 1998.

Since you already know how to navigate these kinds of boards, I think you'll find the PN forum people a great bunch.

Again, welcome.

Hi George and Welcome to NT. My DH has a tens unit and swears by it... He also can turn it up pretty high....
I have also used it, but when I do, I have to have it set very low. My muscles hurt really bad if I turn it up very high... Glad to see you have found us...

Welcome to you too, Bookworm....

Hello George and Bookworm, welcome to NT! I'm sure you'll both love it here. The people are fantastic, and will give you the kind of moral support than can only come from someone who knows what you are going through. There is also a wealth of data for you to use, to help you know and control your disease.

I had a tens unit about 10 years ago and loved it. But recently I was given a "micro-tens", and it caused some problems. The voltage was too low, so what I got out of it was a gentle feather-brushing-on-your-skin kind of feeling, which drove my rsd/crps absolutely bonkers.

So I think tens units can be a good thing... as long as you get one that is tailored to meet the requirements of your particular disease. I would have really liked to get one, but there's no way I am going to PT three times a week, which is what my ins. requires. ACK.
