COPD/potential ALS diagnosis

Greetings!

I began slurring my words early Sept and was still understandable. Now late Dec, no-one can understand me and I need to write everything down. I also have late stage COPD with severe breathing problems. The ENT and Neurologists I have been seeing have been unable to identify what I have.

Yesterday we were sent to a Specialist Neurologist in SF. He mentioned a possible ALS diagnosis. Should ALS be confirmed, would the combination of ALS and COPD make longevity less likely.
