Question about Lemon grass essential oil
Hi all.
This morning one of my neighbors tracked me down in Dunkin Donuts all excited. he's from Palestine and has bad bad knees. He's alway using poltices and whatever remedy works. Things I have never heard of but I'm always willing to try. Well he was all excited saying 'I'm going to give you an oil that I have just bought". He said he bought Essential Lemon Grass Oil from Lucky Vitamin and you use only a bit anywhere you have pain. I immediately thought of Alan's neuropathy and asked him 'He said "just use a litte, a little bottle is Twenty Dollars". He told me he got it from Lucky Vitamin. I went there, saw lots of various Lemon Grass Essential Oil for much cheaper and also checked Puritan Pride. I have emailed his wife to ask her for the exact product they are talking about. So my question here is have any of you tried dabbing a bit of lemongrass oil on your neuropathy and has it had any effect at all. Hey, we have to keep trying right? Happy New Year to you all Melody |
I've used Lemon Grass Oil and still have some. I'll have to look at it again. I've been into essential oils more and more recently and concentrating NOW on tea tree oil and oil of oregano and wintergreen oil (some).. These oils are powerful and can help us. Thank goodness for the world of alternative healing aka functional healing.
I find now foods essential oils to be a good quality and good cost-wise. My nerve burn/tingle on thigh from hip surgery is pretty much gone but dead nerve Numbness stays with me. And I do get some burn in my toes some nights but don't know if it's all OA issues or nerve issues from the hip job....for me the inosine/sphingolin did it for the burn I had for 5 yrs. I believe others have talked about essential oils here. |

I have tea tree oil in my house but the smell is so bad I can't stand it. Maybe the lemongrass will at least smell good Melody |
Lemon Grass is very strong and needs to be diluted with a fatty oil like olive oil or coconut oil, etc. Key properties of the oil are antiviral/bacterial, sedative and anti-inflammatory. It has a heavy aroma and is pretty strong. So use only one drop.
DO NOT use it on broken skin as it could irritate it. You can mix it with the Tea Tree oil. I use lemon grass for tendon and ligament issues. But I usually mix it with other oils to make a blend that's more synergistic. I don't think I've ever used alone. It's always in a blend and diluted. |
