An interesting program about Brain Training

This program from the CBC investigates Brain Training programs and their claims. It is almost an hour long and can be tedious but still very interesting. It is mostly about Alzheimer's and dementias. The part about Brain Optimization neurofeedback applies to PCS.

This link is to The Cambridge Brain Sciences cognitive testing program. It can help you identify your strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks for this

Going to use these Cambridge science tests to see if my Feldenkrais and meditation practice is making a difference. Will post results after. Also good way to check if this upcoming Cognitive Fx week of therapy is going to help. I would recommend people to take the Cambridge Brain science tests to make a baseline for the new year. Good way to see where we will stand next year this time. Just a thought.

I've been doing the Cambridge exercises for a few days now. I'd like to say they're helping, but it's tough to tell because I also started exercising more recently too. I definitely feel a good mental effort to do the tests.

Do you know of any other brain recources--exercises, puzzles, etc.? And do things like crossword puzzles, Sudoku, word finds, and brain training actually help?

Can anyone give a brief summary of the argument/findings of the video?

The findings of research show that brain training improves the brain's ability to do the specific task of the exercise. Brain training does no increase intelligence nor improve memory.

It may help some lazy skills to work better. As one focuses on the exercises, one might develop better skills at focusing on a task.

My memory and cognitive abilities have remained in the same weakened state for over 13 years but I can do brain training and consistently improve my scores.

So, if you want to get good at Sudoku, play it often. Mental stimulation is always good because it causes blood to flow through the brain.
