No effective treatment, no cure, NO KNOWN METHOD a prudent individual can take to prevent getting this disease. A rare disease you say? You say only 2 out of a million people will get this disease?

How about I mention that the life time risk of getting this disease has been quoted as high as 1 in 600 in a few university medical publications? How can anyone live in peace with this silent killer on the loose especially when one stops to think that you or your loved ones could be next?

This disease kills in the region of 5000 Americans each year. Yet the media seem more bent on reporting about Paris Hilton while issues that really matters are left to the side out of view. Why hasn’t there been a more concerted global effort gone to combat such a devastating disease?

Hi Bobby:
I have been reading your posts for a while now and I just want to say that I admire your courage and I am humbled by your positive attitude. My goodness, you have so much to go through yet you keep such positive spirit about you.

I have a personal interest in ALS and have asked the same question many times about the lack of research and cure for ALS. I have come to this conclusion about medicine. If it isn't about sex or money, the publicity for devastating conditions such as ALS is fleeting at best. ie. Viagra-Breast Augmentation. We have television shows dedicated to Plastic Surgery?? Where did we go wrong as humans?

I keep those that suffer from ALS in many daily prayers as I know first hand how devastating this disease is.

Sincerely,
Gail

Hi Bobby
I agree with Gail: your courage and positive attitude are things to admire.
I'm sure you are helping more people than you can imagine.
