What is the max Mestinon dose?
 

I am sure that this question has been asked before, and answered. But My eyes are too bad to go scrolling through thousands of pages.

My GP has given in and agreed that I can double my Mestinon. To 6 x 180mg.

He said "I don't know much about it." :rolleyes: and since an MG neuro said "keep increasing until you get side effects." there seems to be no reason not to.

But I know myself that there is a limit. My concern is that without proper medical oversight, that I might reach that limit without realising. I still don't have a dx, though the Mestinon still helps, though I do have to keep increasing the dose.

Any advice would be appreciated.

1600 mg a day is max is what my Neuro told me. She said the same thing increase as I need to. Your still fine. However the other side effects of too much mestinon for me aren't max but just increasing when I'm not used to it. When I went from 60 to 120 at a time it was jittery and some generalized weakeness. It sounds like you are past that anyway, but if you are the 90 right now (pill and a half) then I would prob increase by a half pill at a time until you see how it does. Just a thought. Good luck.

already tried 120 a few times. Better but not much. 1600 mg a day works out at 240 + per 6 times a day... so I guess I will try 150 then 180 mg.

JJ, You need to be careful. The neuromuscular junction can "flood" with too much acetylcholine. At that point, nothing will get to the muscles.

I don't have time to pull PubMed articles, but you can do a search there.

Keep a close eye on any adverse effects or overdose symptoms!
