Caffeine
I'm almost at 16 months post concussion. Still having terrible symptoms.
I'm looking at green tea specifically an extract for the EGCG. It has 4 mg caffeine per capsule. Do any of you drink green Tea? Have you had any increase in symptoms? I would take the caps when I woke to test it out but wanted to ask here first. |
I used to drink a lot of green tea when I didn't drink any soda products. No side effects. Now I'm hooked on morning latte and coke throughout day to help with headaches and energy levels which is superficial but without it hard to function. I should try to quit coke but finding it difficult.

4 mgs of caffeine is very slight. A normal cup of coffee is 80 mgs. Experts say a single serving of caffeine per day is OK. Morning best.
TisT, How many serving of coke and coffee do you consume each day ? What symptoms are you still struggling with ? Coke has half the caffeine of most coffee but much more sugar. Artificially sweetened sodas contain brain poisons that make caffeine look like pure water. |
I drink tea most of the day. I was sensitive to just about everything for a while. Now, I feel mostly normal. I tolerate caffeine just fine. I actually feel better when I drink tea than when I don't. I've had periods off of it.
Let us know what you find! |
Coffee used to make me feel quite bad for about half a year after my concussion. Green tea never did.

Main symptom is chronic headaches and brain fog. Have convergence insufficiency. doesn't take much to feel eye strain And get fatigued very easily. I have 2 kids. Get very little sleep and they are a handful. Have a stressful job that I enjoy but is very intense. |
Have you tried any therapy for your convergence insufficiency ?
Home therapy with pencil push ups work as well as office therapy according to a study I read on NIH. 5 minutes 3 times a day. Here are pencil push up instructions. http://www.tedmontgomery.com/the_eye/VT/therapy.html |
Yes, I have prism glasses that help a lot. My dr. Said eye exercises won't hurt but also won't help much because the problem isn't with my eye muscle.
That explains why when I went to brain carrick center that's all they did for me and tried to cram in a months worth of eye therapy in 1 week and felt the worse I've ever felt. I should write a trip report to save other people who are thinking of going. I also have mild sleep apnea. I feel the best when I exercise regularly but since I've had kids it's almost impossible to find energy to do so. |
I'll say the one good thing about being young and suffering this is you don't have to deal with kids. I can't imagine trying to raise kids feeling like this. Right now there a couple outside playing and screaming and it's pretty bothersome. Got the earplugs and white noise going but still it definitely is hard to deal with.
Of course I'm missing out on my youth so that's an obvious trade off. I would do most anything to be able to go back to school or even hold a part time job. |
