Peripheral neuropathy and increase in heart PVCs
I started having peripheral neuropathy and increased heart palpations following the death of my father and a bout of a "virus" in 10/15. I had a fever of about 102 that lasted a few days during which time I passed out and split my head open in the shower (no concussion) I believe I was out for about only 5 minutes. The virus and emotional stuff caused me to loose 6-8 lbs which I have since regained. I am very fit and a healthy person. I run 80-100 miles a month and do yoga 3-4 times a week. I have seen a doctor and blood tests ruled out thyroid, diabetes and the other regular stuff. My PVCs at times are 7 per minute which recently sent me to the ER. I was told unless these are consecutive (no normal ventricular beats in between) I am at no additional risk for a heart attack. There is talk of me taking a beta blocker which at this point I am going to decline. I do take complex B vitamin, C, D and magnesium supplements. I am seeing my primary care this week but am not very hopeful that she will have any answers. The tingling and weak feeling in my lower arms and hands and the weak feeling in my lower legs and tingling and burning in my feet is bothersome as is the heart stuff but I can live with it. I guess my questions are more about bothering with these nerve tests and beta blockers as it seems from reading this forum that there is no additional help to be gained from it. I am frustrated with western medicine at this point and am thinking of going to a homeopathic Doctor.

Hello BlkMtnGirl,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups. :Wave-Hello: |
Hey BlkMtnGirl :)
I can tell you what I know about PVC's.
My GYN found mine during a yearly exam. Realized the only way I knew I was having them was to check my pulse. I know weird. I never felt anything in my chest. My first 24/hr Holter monitor test was showing 13,000 PVC's in 24 hours. Then months later when I noticed they had increased my test results were 33,000 in 24 hours. They weren't too worried at 13,000 but the 33,000 concerned them as it could weaken the heart. I was very thankful then that I could not actually 'feel' the PVC's as I'm sure my anxiety would have gone through the roof ! I had a heart ablation done and they 'burned' 11 places in my heart that were misfiring. They left one spot because they didn't like where it was. Now they are at 650 in a 24 hour period. All fixed. They dr's told me most people have them here and there and are not really anything to worry about. Of course that's easy to say if you are not the one having them right ? :D Hope this info helps you. Take care Debi from Georgia ps.....I have small fiber neuropathy. I'm pretty sure I had it in 2011when the ablation was done, though a very mild case. It wasn't until I had chemo in 2013 that it turned severe. |
