What are these spots on my normal MRI?
 

I'm going to see if I can figure out how to attach these photos so someone can explain these spots to me. My MRI is normal. I have another image with a similar spot on the left side but I can't figure out how to attach more than one pic at a time. I'm in my 30's. Would they tell me the white spot was age?

What are the white spots in the middle of my scan? Any ideas? The MRI is normal.

i'm not a dr so i can't really tell. i would go back to your dr and ask him your Q's. you could also get a copy of the radiologist's report. that may answer some Q's.

personally i don't think any of us could evaluate an mri under these circumstances. it's just for a trained neuro or radiologist to decipher. i know you can be anxious about these things. i was also. but, your mind would be more at ease if you went back to your dr. it's his job to answer your Q's until you are satisfied you understand.

This site is mainly patient to patient support, so I don't know that members could speak to what may be showing on the images.

Have you listed / described your symptoms?

The MRI report would give you information about what may or may not have been found. Even with the report it's always best to let your Physician explain what the MRI and report means. Many things on a MRI may appear to be of concern to those of us without the medical background to interpret what we are seeing but can be normal.

Thanks guys. I have been having arm and leg weakness and some numbness on and off. I was under the impression that a normal, young brain shouldn't have white spots so I was confused but the white spots but a normal report. I don't have another neuro appt. I have had normal blood work and normal EMG and now a normal MRI. I'm fairly certain they'll just tell me I'm crazy and there's nothing wrong, so I think I will just learn to live with the symptoms!

If any of us tried to interpret your results, we'd get in trouble for practicing medicine without a license. (I took a medical ethics class. Learned that if someone suggest you take a Tylenol for a headache. That's practicing medicine without a license)

i would keep a sx journal (symptom). it will help track the sx's you have and may help your dr the next time you visit one.

it can take time for MS to be finally dx'd (diagnosed). IF it's MS related.
i also would start to compile a medical file on yourself. get copies of the mri's etc so IF you see another dr he'll have info to evaluate.

if your sx's worsen or last i'd check in with your dr again.
take 1 day at a time. keep us posted and check in.

Bright spots on an MRI can sometimes be what are termed "artifacts". There are many reasons for them apparently.

If you look up artifacts and MRI, you can find all the extremely complicated and detailed reasons why these occur including motion of the patient or signal of machine.

Even things like makeup that contains cobalt or metal clips in the body can cause artifacts. Radiology is a speciality and it's best for that person to read the MRI and report back to your doctor.
