TGIF - Weekend check in...............
 

Happy 4th of July weekend and for those who made long weekends from the holiday that's great. Many too are on vacation the frist two weeks of July.:)

I have been really sick with my migraines. I posted the beginning of it in last weekend's check in post.
I ended up in the ER yesterday afternoon, didn't get out of there until 11pm, got there at 4:30 pm.:(

Anyway, my cat scan of my sinuses came back fine. I couldn't afford the copay on the migraine med my PCP gave me, so she put me back to the furiocet. I have no ear infection, they checked my eyes and they are fine too.:confused:

Then why? the intense severe eye and ear pain? I took all the Keflex (antibiotic) when the 1st Urgent care place told me it was sinusitis. Still using the nasonex too so I can breathe and not get stuffed up, and I still am using the ear drop pain med I got OTC.:(

At the ER they gave me another shot of Torodol which helped for a short period of time. And script for Reglan that is used for other things but also works along with other meds for migraines, they gave me a pill of that at the ER, still when I got home and in bed finally, the eye and ear pain came back.:(

Have to call my PCP again today, although I have a follow up appt the end of this month.

I am at my wits end with this. Our 2 day getaway wasn't what it was supposed to be due to my migraine attacks, but we were alone and made the best of it.:o

At this point, I can't figure out what trigger's the migraines, the heat? going from the intense heat into AC? It's in the triple digits here, yet dry in the desert, no humidity. Having a cocktail when we were away?
So, I tried not doing those things, keeping my head out of the sun, but it didn't matter. Not going under water in the pool either.:eek:

Allergies? Never had any in my life. Never had such intense migraines that lead to this ear pain, it's all on the left side of my face. Using moist heat helps.:(

Oh, the sinus cat scan, does or did not include the ear. Great, huh? My life now seems to revolve around these migraines and it's awful to live this way.:(

I guess I will see what my PCP says today. All I can say is this has been way too long. My prescription coverage will cover Imitrex 5 mg nasal spray for migraines with a $30.00 co-pay, instead of the $60.00 co-pay for the migraine meds my PCP tried to have me fill, so I have to mention that to my PCP today.:rolleyes:

Check in - vent - what is your plans for the weekend? Mine is one minute at a time.

Also, my PCP wants me to check with my p-doc to see if she will switch me from Lamictal to Topamax, which is supposed to help migraines.:confused:

Does Topamax have any side affects? Weight gain or anything?:confused:

I've never heard of people gaining on Topamax. But they sometimes lose on topamax.

The other side effects I know of mainly happen to kids. So I'm not sure about what they are.

There is one that has to do with the eyes.

Hi Nikko, Did you have a nerve pinched in the neck going up the ear to the eye? That maybe why the toradol helped while it was in you, and the migraine meds aren;t.

I use topomax for migraines...it fontrols the nerve in the back of my skull that flares, my cervogenic migraines. No weight gain. Many lose, I lost on Lexapro.
Can you feel any tender spots in your skull like the nerve under is inflamed?

Is the ehat letting up, it cold be triggering you as you are in the airconditionaing so much. You did say you had nasonex to use too?

We put up a small 4 foot pool for Katie, ergh it is off about 3-4 inches on one side!!! Why can;t we see that before the water starts filling!!!!!
I did not sleep last night much so I am trying to get good and tired tonight, sleep in tomorrow.

Everyone be well, hope it cools off out west; and comes our way east for this pool.
Several days it was 40 at night and 60's like on the fourth....

Dear Nikko,

I was on Topamax for a little while.
15% of adults on it loose weight. I lost weight but couldn't deal with the initial side effects. Some people do very well on it -- usually it is used as a 2nd mood stabilizer.

It can work as a good headache med too.

I think that Wittesea had some information on Topamax for me a few years ago.

I am so sorry about the pain, Nikko. Dang, I wish they could get this right for you. It's been weeks. :hug:

We are going to Wendover, Nevada today and spending the night. It will be the first time I have ever left Wes and Con alone over night. Yeah, I know they are 14 and 17, but still. I am the worlds nuttiest overly-protective mother. sigh.

We got to see my step-daughter and her family last night. All 3 grand boys were so GOOD! My demon spawn are growing up into little gentlemen. :eek: It's going to be nice having them home again for awhile. My son-in-law is in the navy and he got transfered back here from San Diego this week. Very nice.

Somehow, I have got to get the house clean on top of all of that. LOL.

Well I am disappointed in myslef.
I was supposed to go with a girlfriend and her daughter to a water park with their girl scouts group.
I had everything all set out last night...went to bed early for me to get up at 7am when I normally get up at 9 durin ther week.
I could not sleep.
I did not sleep at all last night....So at 7 am called her and canceled and went back to bed. and slept until 11. and got up...must get going.

Nikko-Have you had all of your wisdom teeth out? could it be a toooth problem?
Di-Your pool sounds like fun and I think the heat wave is heading east so maybe you will have hotter temps.
Mari-Will be thinking about you thinking about your decision....
Bear-enjoy your trip to nevada!!!!!!Going to vegas? I am sure your boys will be fine...any more word about wes staying at the farm?
