Does this mean I have Lupus
Hi everyone,
Diagnosed with Graves and Fibromyalia many years ago. Seeing a neuro for possible neuropathy. He ran labs and my Lupus test came back low. I have discontinued any supplements/foods with B6 in them. I don't see my doc for another 2 weeks and was wanting some guidance. Thank you so much, Kay LUPUS (12) PANEL COMPLEMENT COMPONENT C3C 77 L 90-180 (mg/dL) COMPLEMENT COMPONENT C4C 20 16-47 (mg/dL) DNA (DS) ANTIBODY <1 IU/mL IU/mL Interpretation < or = 4 Negative 5-9 Indeterminate > or = 10 Positive RIBOSOMAL P ANTIBODY <1.0 NEG Ref Range<1.0 NEG (AI) SM ANTIBODY <1.0 NEG Ref Range <1.0 NEG (AI) SM/RNP ANTIBODY <1.0 NEG Ref Range <1.0 NEG (AI) SJOGREN'S ANTIBODY (SS-A) <1.0 NEG Ref Range <1.0 NEG (AI) SJOGREN'S ANTIBODY (SS-B) <1.0 NEG Ref Range <1.0 NEG (AI) THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES 1 Ref Range <9 (IU/mL) SCL-70 ANTIBODY <1.0 NEG Ref Range <1.0 NEG (AI) RHEUMATOID FACTOR 8 Ref Range <14 (IU/mL) ANA IFA SCREEN W/REFL TO TITER AND PATTERN, IFA ANA SCREEN, IFA POSITIVE ANTINUCLEAR ANTIBODIES TITER AND PATTERN ANA PATTERN HOMOGENEOUS ANA TITER 1:40 H titer VITAMIN B12 1189 H Ref Range 200-1100 (pg/mL) VIT B12 BINDING CAPACITY, UNSAT (TRANSCOBALAMIN) 601 L Ref Range 650-1340 (pg/ml) VITAMIN B6 75.2 H Ref Range2.1-21.7 (ng/mL) VITAMIN B1 (THIAMINE), BLOOD, LC/MS/MS 63 L Ref Range 78-185 (nmol/L) |
The results of all of the immunological tests for SLE look fine to me. Does your neurologist think that you have clinical signs of SLE?
You might find this information about Vitamin B6 helpful; http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/vitamins/vitamin-B6. |
Yes, and he also thought I had Sjogren's.

The classical signs of Sjögren’s Syndrome are dryness in the mouth and eyes.
Sometimes measurements of antinuclear antibody (ANA) and rheumatoid factor (RF) levels can help in diagnosis. Your ANA titre looks OK to me (usually a titre greater than 1:160 is thought to be significant) and your RF level is within the normal range. |
Thank you.
In January of this year it was 1:160, Rheumatoid Factor was negative. My ANA tends to go up and down. Right now it's at its lowest. Kay |
I have lupus and Sj. Syndrome.
I take a b complex and a separate low dose of b6 with no issues that I'm aware of. You don't think your high b6 levels are related to autoimmune symptoms? I do recall reading that having a very high level of this is not good for you. I have dry eyes and mouth. Common for lupus and very common with Sj. syndrome. I take Ubiquinal. This seems to have helped with that...especially dry mouth. I use preservative free eye drops daily and this is also of great help. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21406193 |

I do not have the classic SJ symptoms. I don't think that is an issue for me. I was more concerned with my low levels on the Lupus blood work. I have a close blood related relative that is seriously ill with Lupus, she's only 30. Breaks my heart what she goes through. Kay |

Well, thank goodness you don't likely have lupus. And even if you have SJS, you don't have any symptoms!!! N And there is an easy fix for the b6 being too high. Yes, having Lupus etc. is rough, so you seem ok. |
Thank you,
Kay |
