Night Tremors
Well here is a new one for me!!! At night now I deal with what I call night tremors. My entire body starts jerking uncontrollably First the left leg, than the right arm, than the chest, than the right leg, etc,. They are so severe and so uncomfortable I wake up in the mornings with my stomach in knots its like going through a entire Jane Fonda Workout in your sleep. I rest my case.
WHAT IS THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????? I could easily be a stand in for Linda Blair in the Exorcist! Mark :) |
Not a doctor...laffs. So I have no clue what the night tremors are but I do know that you are worth a damn! I think you are worth a million bucks!

Tremors
Hi
My doc told me that my meds were to high and to back off for a couple of days. I did and it solved the problem for me. Good Luck. Pam |
Hi Mark,
Called "myoclonic jerks". Can be caused by lots of things but you can have them as a "standalone". My late partner (a doctor) had them, boy do they kick the other person out of bed and I'm not talking twitches, here. It's most likely to be side-effect of the gabapentin-type drugs - neurontin, topomax, lyrica, some new ones I forget. All epilepsy medication, so might mean you need to ease off. There's stuff on the net about it, but don't get too worried by what you read - many people develop them anyway, after a certain age, for no good reason and, other than morning stiffness, to no ill effect. Tiring and wearing, though and puts a crimp in your social life if you're single ;) all the best. |
What do you do in Hong Kong
Hi Artist!
What are you doing in Hong Kong? Are you are native? Pictures I have seen look facinating!! Pam |
Hi Dodrill,
No, not native, originally a Brit, Ilived here as a young child then came back when I was about 30 - that was 25 years ago! My profile has my website URL, which tells you a bit, but I do all kinds of things to do with "visual art". Doing designs for hotel wall sculpture at the moment. Thanks for asking! Having a few problems right now coz the RSD's in my left hand, which can't draw for toffee (so that's a blessing) - but something's started happening to my right hand...dunno what yet. What about you? Can you work? Take care, all the best. |
mark,
can you describe the jerks or movements more? are they rhythmic or spastic? my husband has what is called periodic limb movement disorder. it can effect any or all muscles. even facial muscles. and yes...it can lead to an exhausting sleep. none for me..which is why i'm online. :p |
Tremors ar Rest
Hi Mark,
About 4 yrs ago, both before and after I had had 2-3 blocks, my arm had tremors or should I say, jerking so bad that if you stood in front of me you took a chance on being hit in the face !! My arm would be up against my body by my waist and it would jerk out far from my body & upwards. It went away after a few more blocks, but I have jerks in all 4 extremities now, however not as severe as you describe. It happens more as I am relaxing, when I'm having a lot of pain or too much activity. I'll jerk or have tremors or both. Here is one article I found describing this: Wh http://www.rsdalert.co.uk/FAQ/isshakingasymptom.htm "Yes, tremor (shaking) is among the symptoms identified in studies on RSD/CRPS. No two cases of this condition are exactly alike, and some people see very few of the so-called "characteristic" symptoms, while others get the whole book! Tremors may be aggravated when the patient is over-stressed or tired because the sympathetic nervous system reacts to these conditions...." go to the site to read more. The association of postural tremor with reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) has been reported....and my research shows it could also be related to your neck injury when you were in the cab accident. Also dr hooshmnds puzzle says it is common. www.rsdrx.com/rsdpuz4.0/puz_128.htm Hey! He's not always wrong is he ?? Hope |
I had one last night accompanied by serious hallucinations. Having done LSD, that is the only thing I can compare it to, but being awake and asleep at the same time is an insane feeling. I think mine is caused by stress.
