Alcohol withdrawal and aggression

I know this may go with the territory regards alcohol addiction.
I am not violent, I know alcohol abuse leads to aggression and violence, we see it every Friday and Saturday night.

I'm trying to cut down, but failing miserably as a consequence of a litany of excuses, the latest being I have feelings of aggression and need a drink to calm myself down. I felt it when I was on steriods last year.

I know what I am going through, I know what I should be doing.

I just bring it here, because I can't see anyone else has so overtly and I think it should be recognised with a thread, for others to share their experiences and perhaps take something from.

DB has anger issues, very tightly wound and quick to ignite over the smallest of things. He suffers as we now know from severe anxiety, his anger stems from that and combined with growing up in a small Welsh mining community where drinking and fighting / aggression went hand in hand. It is hard to unlearn a lifetime of learnings but he works at it and on the whole is winning the battle albeit slowly. Alcohol will seduce you in to making all sorts of excuses to justify why you can get the next one down your neck. I'm not an alcoholic but I live with one. I had a dependency on Xanax - prescribed to me to help me deal with living with an alcoholic. Worst prescription ever, the damn things sing the siren song, any reason to have one was a good one. Keep at it MrP you can do this.
