L-tryptophan issues...? Please help.

Hi
I recently stopped taking L-tryptophan a few days ago because I ran out and was not able to get more. I had been taking 500 mg/day for about two months to help with sleep.

I have been feeling sick - diarrhea, slight chills, lethargic, high anxiety, etc... for about a day. Could this be some sort of withdrawal from L-tryptophan?

I am unsure because I also started taking Curcumin yesterday and then took advil PM last night because I had a headache and couldn't sleep. I read that curcumin can interact with advil in some way. So I don't know what is causing this.

I cannot reach my doctors right now.

Thanks for your help.

I think that would be unlikely. But Curcumin does upset me
most of the time. Curcumin is not well absorbed from the GI tract. It remains there and moves out in the stool. For me it moved out "rapidly". I can't say about your other symptoms though, as people react differently to sudden changes.

The best curcumin to use for your purposes where you want it to
get into the blood stream and work as an anti-inflammatory, is to get one of the Optimized (solubilized) ones like CurcuBrain. There is another, called CurcuGel, but I think CurcuBrain is a bit better.
Even then I can't take it every day, but I do stagger it when I do use it for my arthritis.

You may be lacking in Tryptophan so without supplementation, your serotonin could be low allowing anxiety to creep in. Tryptophan is a precursor to 5-HTP then serotonin then another step and then melatonin. If you are lacking in melatonin, you could also be lacking in serotonin (anxiety).

5-HTP is often easier to find than L-Tryptophan.

So, the L-Tryptophan reduces the anxiety and its absence allows anxiety to increase.

Thank you. How long would effects from the curcumin last as far as upset stomach, etc...?

a couple of days probably. But many things including bad food, viruses etc cause upsets, too.

Sounds serotonin related to me.
