New to this .. sort of

I am a new member and like many, searching

Over the years I've had different symptoms but all came crashing to halt in November 2015 with migraines, numbness in arms, neck pain shooting to head and down arms.

Today -
Numbness & tingling in arms & hands (most right side)
Pain, tingling, burning in both feet and legs
Migraine seems to be worse in light and driving car
Stress - hugely magnifies all to the point where my body just won't work. I've had to lift my right arm with my left to shake someone's hand
Speech - thinking one word and something else comes out. Started long, drawn out speech like the words are totally stuck in my brain
Gait - dragging my right leg and unsteady to walk
Dizziness
Memory issues - severe short term memory issues
Anxiety, hypertension & depression
Eye pain - like I cannot even describe

Testing & Diagnosis -
1.) MRI & CT scan of head and neck - all Ok
2.) Visual Field Study - eye doctor - abnormal
3.) EMG - Impression (I share because I really don't know how to interpret)

This is an abnormal electrophysiological study due to evidence of right sural sensory neuropathy which may be supportive of the diagnosis of sensory peripheral neuropathy in lower extremities. It may be due to different causes such as metabolic, nutritional deficiencies, paraneoplastic, autoimmune and others, or it may be idiopathic. There was also evidence of bilateral median neuropathies with entrapment at the level of flexor retinaculum, i.e. carpal tunnel syndrome, affecting sensory fibers only. There was no evidence of right cervical or right lumbar however this test is only 60-80% sensitive for such disease. There was no evidence of muscle disease. There was no evidence of neuromuscular junction disorder. Clinical correlation is suggested

4.) Bloodwork - Ok - high B6 but, was on supplement & requested we redo test (thank you to this group for sharing this info). Will redo as soon as I can fast long enough - my memory issues - I literally keep forgetting to fast

5.) EEG - had today and no results yet
6.) MRI of thoracic and lumbar later today

I am 52 female, single parent to 8 yr old and going absolutely bonkers.

I have tried:
Physical therapy on neck and arms (PT believes strongly neuro)
Accupuncture
Massage therapy
Chiropractor

Meds -
Only on neurologist prescribed (came off a ton of others) gabapentin, inderal and indocin

I'm trying to find out source of neuropathy and how relates to all the other symptoms.

I'm looking for support / guidance on my new path here.
Thanks

Hello and Welcome Pika,

I am sorry you are having to deal with so much discomfort and work up. It is always worrisome waiting for answers that are difficult to find. You will find many helpful and supportive people here who understand. It is good that you are getting thoroughly checked out. I hope that provides useful information or at least reassurance.

You might find the following areas of Neurotalk helpful.

Peripheral Neuropathy

Headache

Depending on what your MRI shows the Spinal Disorders board may be helpful as well. You will find Search and FAQ at the top of every page to help you look for specific topics and answer common forum usage questions.

I hope that you find answers and relief soon. If you have not checked your thyroid, please do. It is a common and often overlooked contributor to many symptoms. Hang in there and don't give up on treatments. It can often take a while to find what works for you.

Little Paw,
I appreciate your response.
I will check out the boards as I get more information. I'm back from the tests and exhausted. I felt so foolish, on top of not being able to walk and talk, I had the appointments confused and nearly cancelled the EEG. I had an E-Voc test (I think) yesterday and thought it was the EEG. The EEG was scheduled for today after the MRI's. Thankfully, I called the doctor office to find out. The hospital staff was great and encouraging about it all. My anxiety and stress goes through the roof when I can't remember simple things and don't have anyone to bounce things off of.
I'm thankful to have found this group.

Hi, the first thing that came out on your post is Migraines. I don't get them but have read from many here and elsewhere about the migraine "world"....I take all the B vitamins separetely and just started on the B2, taking 100mg daily now. I also take a Complex B every couple of days.

http://www.vitamins-supplements.org/...riboflavin.php

I have info posted here Mostly in vitamins/herbs area but also in the PN and Arthritis and Fibro areas and wherever I think I can shed some support.

Grape Seed Extract is my most valuable supplement and I'm in my 21st yr and post about it a lot here. Personally I take 95% supplements and iburprofen and BP med and thryoid support (armour generic).

Hope you get some help here.

Hang in there Pika. Getting the workup is stress producing for anyone. It is easy to get flustered when you are in pain, getting tests done and worrying about the results. Make notes if you need to or set notices on your phone. I'm glad the staff is so understanding.
