Pudge

she hasn't eaten today so far. I spoke with Joyce is a cat guru. she made suggestions but pudge is a fussy eaten to begin with. she said it is very bad if they go without eating for two or three days. there system starts shutting down. she told me to make an emergency appointment with a vet tomorrow.
today misu of her own accord jumped on the bed and cuddled with me.

hi bobby,
glad to hear pudge ate.
one of the tips a vet gave me when my cats wouldn't eat was to give baby food, like turkey, chicken or beef...just make sure no garlic or onions in it. I use Gerber baby food. I also heat it a bit and add a bit of water, like 1/4 tsp.
my best, D.

I don't think you need an emergency vet appointment. Pudge is just stressed because there is a new cat in the house… that is all the vet will tell you… you don't need to waste big bucks to hear that. She is still eating. She will adjust in time.

I like Diandra's idea about the baby food!

Have you thought about switching Misu's to Pudge's food, too? At least on a trial basis? It seems like a hassle to buy two different kinds of cat food.

I have five different foods and they have free choice. so far so bad.

i just ordered some chicken and broth and turkey and broth and two syringes.
I am spending money like there is no tomorrow. misu was on the bed again and enjoying the attention. pudge is lying on the printer. my friend who i write to seems to no longer being angry at me. who knows.
i already had two klonopin. i am afraid to take two more until tonite. My stomach is still better. I am thinking of having another cup of regular coffee. i really cut down on it. Psychologically i feel miserable. I will feel better if i see pudge eat again.

Bobby

I honestly think Pudge will eat when he/she is ready or hungry. I would
keep working to get them regulated to being together.

Also I wonder if Pudge is just really starting to realize Abby is gone now.

So just keep giving the attention.

Also does pudge weigh about the same as he/she has. If so then Pudge
is eating enough for now.

We have one cat that will only eat when no one is watching anymore.

I strongly suggest you not syringe the food into either cat.

That will create stress and fear and dislike at food time.

When introducing a new cat to a family home, food is paramount to create safety for both that neither will go without. Place the food dishes farther apart and they will be less competitive. Usually one cat will become alpha and eat first, then leave and the other will come later for his/her share. Some cats we have had do revenge eating... that is eating both dishes in fear that the other cat will get "more".

We use treats to reward desirable behavior. Each cat must have a favorite...it has been our experience. Our Maya gets a defrosted cooked shrimp when she is behaving well. Weezie will get cut up left over chicken. They both like Chicken of the sea Salmon (from the pouches in the human food aisle).

When both of your kitties learn that the food is plentiful and given on time, most of the tension about the new Misu will dissolve away. Try not display tension or worry over looking at the food dishes. They won't understand those feelings and think THEY are at fault somehow.

From what I"ve read so far, your new kitty sounds nice and socialized. So you should have a good life with her with little stress.

In our home Weezie mostly defers to Maya. They get along very well since neither really want to be alpha. But we have had others that established a pecking order..it just depends on the temperaments of each cat. Weezie does want to be higher up in the cat trees though.. that remains a slight bone of contention even now. ;)
