Dollars For Docs

Some other friends are discussing this site. It starts out about a doctor in New Hampshire. I've entered some doctors that I've seen over the years and the doctor my daughter was seeing back in the early 2000's...we both experienced harm from actions of two doctors specifically. Both MD's were paid significant dollars from Aug 2013-Dec 2014. I don't know how often this NPR data is released but find it very interesting.

This is something which concerns me - the whole issue of drug companies giving doctors money for "educational" purposes worries me.

It has recently attracted some attention here as well; http://www.smh.com.au/national/healt...29-gnsy45.html.

Bad Pharma by Ben Goldacre (he is a medical doctor who works under the NHS in the UK) explains many of the tricks which drug companies use. His Bad Science is also worth a read.

Kiwi, thanks for the link from your country. I was just reading thru the Dollars for Docs site again and it's truly astounding how the money keeps flowing into the MD's for so many reasons...I just read thru the 5 Highest Earning Doctors and hard to believe..

I knew for years about payola but reading this info, makes me even more unwilling to see MD's..

I just looked at Ben Goldacre's book and I may buy a used copy but then again do I want to make myself more angry.

On the same site of Goldacre's book, there are other books along this same vein and I'll post one:

Everyone can draw their own conclusions on all this.

Don't forget to check for books at your library, thrift stores like Goodwill etc..
New books often can become outdated when newer information is found..so a library is a great resource vs buying..often they carry new books too
