Just a reminder to actively relax/heal
Hey everyone,
I've been dealing with PCS for the past 5 years, and had some issues even before that. I just wanted to share what I've been doing during the past year that has helped me - basically just setting aside 30 mins to an hour everyday to relax / meditate. The times that I find are the most important to do this are after bumping my head, which is normally incredibly frustrating while I'm already dealing with a lot of symptoms, and invokes a lot of anxiety. I would feel very helpless and feel like I'm going backwards in my recovery - I'm sure lots of you have felt this way. I've read posts on here saying these anxious feelings only hinder recovery, and I agree. I've found that putting the headphones in, listening to quiet meditation music on youtube, and relaxing as much as possible while meditating helps me a lot. Also, while doing this, just actively imagining my brain healing does a lot to make me feel better about the situation, and most importantly, helps me to feel proactive, like I'm actually doing something to get better. Some say this type of healing meditation actually does help to heal faster. This is something that can only help. Another thing I love to do is taking a warm/hot bath, lighting a candle, playing quiet relaxing music and just repeatedly pouring the water over my head with a plastic cup for a few minutes. I find it to feel really good and makes my head feel really light afterwards, almost giving it a bit of a buzz. Just thought I'd share this, as it's something that I forget to do for weeks at a time. |
A timely reminder for me . . . Thanks.
