Just for fun

found in attic, written in my High School days. Jeez, I'm 60 now!!!!

Halfway to Hoboken on a stinky smelly bus,
Halfway from home next to a man I didn't trust.
Nonchalantly I turned my head just to get a peek,
My eyes met his as he turned too,
the dirty rotten sneak.

He was dressed in bed-sheet clothes that hung below his kness,
And covered in such fine sand dust that I began to sneeze.
He handed me a handkerchief and said "Oh God bless thee".
I turned to look again and cried
"The Sheik of Araby!".

I knew I'd guessed correctly
When he blushed a crimson red.
And shuffled in his sandals
and shyly ducked his head.

Next stop was his, he got off
and I heard his say
"You're invited to my wedding,
in forty-four more days."

I went to Bloomingdale's to find the perfect wedding hat.
And ran into the Sultan of Delhi, short and round and fat.
Invited to the wedding,
and not a thing to wear,
he clenched his fists, jumped up and down, and screamed "It isn't fair.

I calmly walked on over with a purple pillow-case
and shoved his body in it, excepting for his face.
He stopped his screaming, smiled then
and asked me for a date.
I said yes, I had to, I guess it was just fate.

The days went slow, the days went fast,
but 44 did pass.
The Sultan came to get me,
He drove his camel fast.

We got there soon,
we got there late,
we got there by and by.
When we got there all I could say was "My, oh my, oh my"

The Sheik sat in the middle
surrounded by his girls.
And all they wear in that harem is a single strand of pearls.
The belly-dancers danced away in the scorching heat.
I didn't like their bellies much so I just watched their feet.

The Sheik came over to greet me,
his eyes flashed like a cat's.
He told me that he liked my face and adored my hat.
The Sultan spied a girl he liked and went into her tent.
Picking his way over the drunks like a dainty elephant.

I went to sit all by myself in the shade of a giant palm,
a eunuch came and sat with me and cooled me with his frond.

I took the last bus home alone, sighed and got some rest,
but I awoke quite quickly to the sound of someone's breath.
A hand crept out, onto my leg and my thigh did pinch
I turned to scold him soundly when I saw he was a prince.

Next stop was his, he got off and I heard him say,
"You're invited to my coronation in thirty-three more days".
