computer problem with facebook
help
I have a pc, HP computer Today all of a sudden my face book page when I first go to it... is all garbled the entire page is jibberish all numbers and letters no graphics. When I click on the facebook book mark again it goes to regular face book. this doesn't happen to any other book marked favorites. just the facebook one. and it actually says (2 facebook)at the book mark jeff has looked at it and can't figure it out either. and he is the computer guy of the family. I am not tech savy at all. Here is but a small sample of the text: Quote:
bizi thanks for any help |
Maybe what has happened is that your browser's cache (stored information about sites that you often visit) has got corrupted as far as FB is concerned.
Clearing the cache might help - there is info about this here; https://kb.iu.edu/d/ahic. |
thank you I will look at this tomorrow.
good night/day to you. bizi |
Yes , most likely a a cache issue... here is another info site -
How to Clear Your Cache on Any Browser http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2480401,00.asp I set my browsers to clear cache every time I close them.. |
If I clear my caches does that also delete my passwords and I would have to re-enter them all to access each book marked item.
gee i would hate to have to do that. sigh bizi |
The cookies section has the passwords, so only clear cache, not cookies.
There is a check box on Firefox to select what you want to remove. Not sure which browser you use, others should have info on their website too. This shows how to go thru you cookies one by one and remove ones that are questionable.. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...ebsites-stored |
I deleted cookies and cache, I also unplugged the computer for 30 seconds which was supposed to reboot the computer.
I was mistaken it is also on jeffs face book page as well. It is still there. jeff did a virus scan and all came out clean. sigh some one suggested installing the face book app and I don't know how to do that, then delete the book mark link all together. bizi |
Which browser do you use?
Have you tried a different one to see if it happens with it? My facebook pages are all showing normally.. On irefox , Opera and Linux browsers - Qupzilla, Chromium... I do use Ghostery & FBP addons for Firefox & Opera... [F.B. (Fluff Busting) Purity is a Facebook customizing browser extension. It alters your view of Facebook to show only relevant information to you. It lets you remove the annoying and irrelevant stories from your newsfeed such as game and application spam, ads and sponsored stories. It can also hide the boxes you don't want to see on each side of the newsfeed.] http://www.fbpurity.com/ I don't play any games on FB, or click on the images /memes that are shared... When I was still using Windows , I used this browser that is very much like Firefox , only more secure.. https://icedragon.comodo.com/?s_trac...95946550702652 |
Bizi, as far as your passwords are concerned I make sure that "Remember Me" or equivalent is enabled on all sites which need a password to be a full member of.
For example, this morning I cleaned up all of my temporary files, including my browser cache. I use CCleaner (https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download) for this. It was then just a matter of a few minutes going through all of my password-sensitive sites. Eg, on NT all that I had to do was to enter "kiwi33" as my screen-name - because "Remember Me" is enabled NT "knows" my password so (obviously) all is good here. I am not a very active FB user (I am a member of a couple of closed (invitation only) forums) but I have never had a problem seeing them after I have run CCleaner. |
Thanks ladies.
This morning the gibberish did not show up!!!!!! So maybe it was a facebook problem???? I don't know if any of the things helped that I did or not because nothing was apparent as of yesterday and I would have thought if something worked it would have worked immmediately. any way thanks for your suggestions I appreciate you guys! bizi |
