Describing the feeling and struggling

I often struggle with words, choice of, to describe my side that doesn't work properly, doesn't feel right. In the past say it's sort of numb with currents running through it, tingly but dead, yet is has a sharper feel, and today a lady said her husband described it as the feeling after the dentist has given you an injection and it is wearing off. Voila!

A lovely apt choice of words which surely assessors, insurance, family and anyone else can now understand what it is like - that this sensation feels worse when we are at the extremities seems to throw them even more.

I have had difficulty at times trying to accurately describe sensations to my wife, forced me to be creative in my descriptions.
