A welcome
Hope your experience is as comforting to you
As they have become to me
I have similar ailments
Mental disease in my family
Suffer horrible depression on many levels
All different hosts
But something I have tried learning to live with
the things I cannot change
And to learn how to deal with the things I have no control over
It seems most persons now in today's toxic environment
so many factors that takes ones life and changes it forever
Such as fibromyalgia neuropathy
Small nerve damage is so prevelent
I live along the east river
NYC skyline my back yard
Been here since the age of five
I am fifty five
The strip is known to be called cancer alley
Something I still am battling with meds
And removing both breasts when I was found to be positive
for the very common breast cancer known as estrogen driven cancer
Actress Shannon Doratey (spelling) of the famous show "90210"
just on the Dr. Oz show dealing with my type of cancer
They shut her overies down to attempt to stop estrogen flow
Anyhow
I came looking for info on my spine
and found a slew of forums that apply to me
Welcome again
Me

Welcome TulipsMyst!

Hi!
Welcome!
What an interesting screen name.:D

I am sorry you are dealing with so much.

Many of the conditions you mention in your introduction often commonly co-occur. I am not sure this piece of information is very comforting to you. However, it means many people have a very similar constellation of co-occurring conditions. In other words, although you may feel alone, you are not alone. So glad you have reached out! :D

I am just re-visiting the NT site, as I have been away for several months.

I hope you find at least some of the information, support and connection with community members you are hoping to find here.

The search feature here is very helpful in obtaining information, as well.

Join in wherever you feel comfortable! :D

I hope to see you around the various forums.

Love All Around,
:grouphug:

Hi Tulips,
Welcome to the Neurotalk forums.
I have been around here many years and have found people are wonderful about sharing their knowledge and experiences. Also, the moderaters do a terrific job keeping everything civil and running smoothly.

Like you, at almost the same age (late 30's) I started having many of the same physical issues you mentioned. My docs just couldn't seem to connect the dots of neuropathy, sudden onset migraines, memory problems and problems thinking clearly, anxiety, severe pain in neck/head, joint pain, seizures, sleep issues. I was miserable and limping along in my job thinking, how in the world can I continue to live and work like this.

After almost 3 years of going to docs and getting a myriad of tests and diagnosis, it was found I had Lyme Disease. They began treating me with massive amounts of antibiotics, had me stop working and by that time, I was home with nursing care, doing IV antibiotics. I got better rapidly. It was wonderful to have my memory back, my brain clear and my pain gone.
I still have problems because it took so long to diagnose but, I am better
than when first dx'ed.

I find, sadly, Lyme Disease has become an illness that is overlooked and ignored in today's world. It has a very long list of symptoms and can devastate people's lives. People often get put in the Fibro or MS category which is sad because, if caught early, antibiotics can cure Lyme Disease.

Just mentioning it as something to explore.,
If you want help or details, please let me know.
There is ALOT of misinformation out there and if you do explore testing, don't just go to your regular Primary care doc because the tests to detect are poor. You need to find a doc who specializes in Lyme Disease, often called LLMD's which stand for Lyme Literate MD's. I can help with that.

Even if you were tested previously, get tested again via one of these docs.
It is an illness that needs a clinical diagnosis, which means, the doc doesn't JUST look at your test results, they look at the whole picture of your life and symptoms and THE DOCTOR makes the diagnosis and doesn't just rely on test results.

Sorry for what you are enduring.
There are many folks here whose lives have been Sidelined by illness yet, we have learned to work within the confines of our current health status and persevere, often with the help and support of the kind folks here.
My best,
Diandra
