Anxiety
I have some questions about PCS and anxiety related symptoms.
I have PCS now since March 2014. I have the common ups and downs. Good days are followed by bad days. The first year passed on with a lot of symptoms that got better with time. But I kept getting into situations (driving on bad roads, very small hits to the head, and so on) that made my symptoms worse, so I started getting anxiety. Just last Saturday the headrest of my sunlounge broke off while I was lying on it and my head plopped down backwards. Anxiety set in right away. I was thinking that it could not have caused a new concussion but I got very anxious and frustrated. I cried for hours, being afaid my symptoms would come back. Well, they did come back. Very bad. My tinnitus is very loud, my sound sensitivity is very extreme, brain fog, dizziness and so on. Now my question: can all this really be caused only by anxiety? It's been four days and it is getting worse every day. Anja |
Yes, your extended period of extreme emotion and anxiety can require a week or two of settled emotions to recover from.
Your anxious reaction creates a pollution in your brain. It is similar to over-stimulation. For you it lasted for hours and now you need to find a way to stay as settled as possible to recover. As I understand it, your head did not hit anything. It just dropped back in a whiplash like movement. Did you aggravate your neck ? |
"my head plopped down backwards." - Neck injury
"My tinnitus is very loud, my sound sensitivity is very extreme, brain fog, dizziness and so on." - Autonomic controls related to the brain stem. Try icing the upper part of your neck where it connects to your head. If that temporarily relieves symptoms then it's probably related to neck inflammation. |
