PCS - masturbation leads to headache

Hi everyone. I recently have been dealing with PCS symptoms for almost 6 weeks now. I'm doing my best to rest and letting my brain heal.

When I'm at home resting and not exerting myself, I'm doing ok symptom wise for the most part. The one issue I've been having is after masturbation, I usually end up having a headache for the rest of the day and a headache for the following day also. Then it goes away.

I haven't masturbated in a couple of weeks now because I don't know if i'm causing any further damage to the brain. Am I causing setbacks by sexual activity? Is it safe for me to so it? I'm confused as to if I should do it again before my brain heals.

Anyone else deal with this type of issue? I've done it twice and both times I've had headaches as a result. I couldn't find much information on the internet. My doctor doesn't believe its connected, but I've had it happen twice now.

Other have had the same experience. The rise in blood pressure could be the trigger.

I see, thanks. That makes sense. So I'm to assume that I should avoid sexual activity during my recovery?

Unless it is worth a headache.

Hi an also, I'm about 14 week post concussion/ptvs. I have brain fatigue and headache that

can last up to a day after sex. I feel this is related concentration and creating a visual image

in my brain. Plus the rise in heart rate. My PT has on stationary bike program and once my heart goes over 110-120 I get a heart rate. I hope this make sense. Reading over what I write exhaust me.

Stay On,

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

It may help for you to post your first post in the New Members thread here. Few in the PCS forum ever read the New Members. Feel free to start your own thread by using the New Thread link in the upper left of the index page.

My first experience with PCS was from an injury while visiting relatives in Goffstown when I lived in Nashua. I love NH. What part are you in ?

How can we help you ?
