Visual Processing

Has your visual processing improved? I had to withdraw from a class because the textbook was visually overwhelming and I'd get visual overstimulation. I started vision therapy a few weeks ago, and I'm just wondering if I'll improve. I know every brain injury is different, but if it does not improve, I'll have to look elsewhere rather than going to school.

Also, do you have any workarounds with this? I've found that with my medical terminology class if I cover up the other page being viewed and cover up the parts of the page that I'm not looking at, it helps tremendously.

I've been telling people about covering the page for years. By removing the extra visual stimulation and clutter, you can focus on what is important. I've had this same issue with it being very limiting early on. It has gotten better over time but not resolved completely.

I covered pages as well.

It took 3 months to see progress in my vision therapy that lasted throughout most of the day. It was 6 weeks before the bad headaches after therapy died down also.

Hang in there.
