Physiologic Post Concussion Disorder
"In our research we found that 77% of patients recovered fully like Ray (Baker et al, 2012). In some instances, especially with non-athletes, patients who refuse to exercise have very poor outcomes. Those that do follow the exercise prescription but do not recover fully will have signs and symptoms of other types of post concussion disorders. Among the most common disorders that did not fully recover with exercise were patients with ocular-vestibular symptoms and some patients, who despite being able to exercise to full capacity without symptom exacerbation, had persistent difficulty with concentration upon return to school or work." |
That 77% number is interesting. Other studies suggest 85% recover spontaneously. I must be in that 33% because I exercised a lot.
A question is: What does Dr Leddy mean by recovered fully ? His protocol is a return to play oriented system. He uses exertion, balance and some other metrics to determine of the player can return to the playing field without being at an increased risk. |
How to Increase Your IQ
Mark, what do you think of this? I believe Neurofeedback has been mentioned before on NT. It seems like the results are all over the place. |

I'm not impressed. I've had a qEEG done twice by one of the most knowledgeable qEEG experts in the world. He had done over 6000 in his career as he researched the brain. They are great for diagnostics to confirm an injury and determine what type of injury/location. Neurofeedback is good if done by someone who understands brain injuries. But, it takes weeks if not months of therapy to see improvements.
There are many different types of neurofeedback. Some can cause side-effects or even risk of injury. So, yes, the results are all over the place. And, it is a cash business. No insurance company covers it. I think you need to stop researching and move on. It is not good. It just stimulates anxiety. There will always be somebody willing to make promises and take your money. You are already overloading on therapy. |
