SFN as a result of RSD/CRSP
Is there anyone here with SFN as a result of having RSD? I had RSD 30 years ago that way put mostly in remission after 10 years of treatment. Now within just a few years I am diagnosed with SFN, MG (neuromuscular autoimmune disease) and hypothyroidism. I feel like the RSD set me up for the neurological and autoimmune issues. Anyone else with a similar experience?

Hi Cait24
Sorry to read you have developed SFN and the other conditions on top of your previous RSD (aka CRPS - Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). I recently came across this interesting article about other complications of CRPS which may be of interest to you. http://www.rsdinfo.com/Various_Compl...n_Syndrome.pdf Given the time lapse between your original RSD it's also likely that the SFN is secondary to the Hypothyroidism - another link to an article discussing this: Hypothyroidism: Can it cause peripheral neuropathy? - Mayo Clinic As there are many different causes of SFN, including medications you may be taking for any of your conditions (as well as some antibiotics), it may be difficult to determine the exact cause. Treatment is dependent on the cause so all the best for figuring out what's going on and getting some useful treat ment. |
