Help Please ... My 5th yrs, son unable to walk suddenly

Good Day Friends,

Before 6 days my son woke-up and was not able to walk and stand-up. I rushed to the emergency and they had admitted him after clinical analysis that he may suffering from guillain-barre syndrome.

They did Spinal tap test, but nothing was found that indicate for GBS. 6 days passed in hospital but still no improvement and my son is not able to walk/stand-up/sit, whenever we are trying to make him sit he start crying that he have pain in his leg on joins.

Doctors have already given two course of Immunoglobulin therapy (hydrocortisone), but result is still same no improvement and pain is not going.

Your expertise / experience will be much appreciated if anyone one can suggest to make further test other than GBS, I am afraid that it may not GBS and when we discovered other disease might be, we will not have not enough time

Hi abdul_zu

Welcome to NeuroTalk.

I am sorry to read about your son.

The information about Guillain-Barré Syndrome here might help you to ask your doctors informed questions Guillain-Barre Syndrome Fact Sheet.

I hope that it helps and if you have any more queries please don't hesitate to ask.

All the best.

So sorry your son is enduring such a nightmare. Things that came to mind with so little info are infectious bites from insects( ticks or spiders), snake or rodents. Or an injury from playing or perhaps falling off playground equipment?

Depending on where you live and how much time your son spends outside are factors in insect and animal bites. However, I would assume by now if it were bacterial, your son would have a fever and they could tell if he had an infection and would give him antibiotics, not immunoglobulin therapy.
Maybe that therapy takes time to work and is not effective immediately?

Prayers for you at this stressful time.
D.

Get secondary tests and opinions

Im sorry to hear this, what you all need to do which you may have to get 100% rude to do so, is demand all types of blood tests to be done testing for all forms of cancer etc... demand MRI's to be done, CAT Scans to be done.
I have read a similar story about these symptoms and it turned out the child had cancer.
Im not trying to upset you or make you scared more than what you are.
But you all need to do this, your son's life may be at risk.
I will pray you all will find out whats going on and that he wil get better.:grouphug:
