HELP!! My back!!

I did something, I don't know exactly what but for a week now I have been in agony. It got better one day then it was back. I think it's muscular because it feels like my left cheek was pinched in a door. It's the worst feeling. Sometimes I can't stand up. Besides laying down what else should I be doing??

[Fortunately, back muscle strains usually heal with time, with most healing within a few days and almost all resolving within 3 to 4 weeks. The large muscles in the low back have a good blood supply, which bring the necessary nutrients and proteins for healing to take place.]

Thanks Jo*Mar. I have been resting and applying heat but stretching not so much. I find that sleep helps quite a bit when I can. After a nap I'm almost perfect but as time goes on I deteriorate back to agony. I will try stretching a little more.

One thing I was wondering about. Can a person take too much Tylenol? I have been taking two every 6 hours or so for the pain. It does help but I'm afraid I am poisoning myself. :o

Yes, you can take too much of any med- OTC included.
Read the bottle or box , it will tell you max amount per day.
A search online will even mention extended time frame - days, weeks etc..

I'm right at the top limit of 6 a day. The first few days I was taking more. Every four hours round the clock. :o I was feeling really sick then, I guess it was from the pain.

If this is what it's like with just a pulled muscle I can't imagine what it must be like with a broken back, horrendous!!

I sometimes get acute lower back pain so you have my sympathy.

When it happens my physiotherapist helps by using massage methods. She has also taught me some gentle stretching exercises which are also beneficial.
