Topical Ketamine gel

I just got this prescribed for me and I'm starting it today. Was wondering if anyone else had/was using this? Any experience with it? I'm supposed to apply it three times a day. Hoping it will help with the pain!

Becca,

I was prescribed a similar cream about a month ago that has Ketamine, Lidocaine, Baclofen, Gabapentin, Amitriptyline, Diclofenac, and Cyclobenza in it . It really has not helped me much with the pain, but because I am rubbing my foot three times a day, my foot is looking healthier. With the allodynia, I do find it rather difficult to apply.

I have read from others, if the pharmacist uses DMSO as a carrier, it does work much better. Some pharmacies use it as their standard, some add it if it is requested. My pharmacy will add it in, but the request has to come from my doctor.

I am not sure if I am going to continue to have it filled or not. When I see my PM next week, I will see if he can request that DMSO be added in an see if that helps any more. It does end up adding an extra $40 to my cost though.

I hope it works well for you. Be patient with it. I was told that does have a cumulative effect and may be two to three weeks before you feel any type of relief.

I was told too that it may take some time to really feel the effect.

But rubbing my foot three times a day HURTs. I really have to make myself do it. It does help the dry skin. But I don't know how many weeks before I give up on it. I've only had it a few days.

Will definitely want to know what you think, and if it helps any.

It's the first I've heard of these kinds of compositions/topical creams.
