--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone,
As you can see, I've got the basic server up and running again, finally. I'm sorry it has taken so long to get this far.

I basically rebuilt the server from the ground up. Did a low-level wiping of the drives, installed the latest version of the OS, and the latest version of vBulletin.

I'm going to create the forum categories tonight and add some of the same templates. I need to let the system run for a day after that to make sure things are stable. I'll be adding the same chat system right after that. As for all the old posts, I'm going to see what I can salvage from the database backups. But right now, I want to make sure the system is up and available. Don't worry, whatever you post now will NOT be removed later.

Thanks so much for hanging in there. I'll be posting updates here.

Also, please re-register! I want to make sure the new user database is solid, so I didn't import it.

I realise I don't rely upon BT as much other people did so if people are afraid to ask a question then I may have to. For me, it's this:

"What happened to the money we donated last time this happened? I thought the entire point was that the extra funds would prevent anything like this from happening again. I also seem to remember a promise that everyone who donated would be personally thanked, which also didn't happen (or at least not to me). When BT was run as a free service then I can understand that you had no obligation to keep the system running or really to offer any kind of customer service, it was all on your terms. But once people paid to restore the community, we became stakeholders here, and frankly I find the lack of communication over the past 2 months beyond discourteous."

I couldn't agree more Paul. I had the exact same experience. Money sent, no acknowledgement and this past few months' lack of information as to site status is beyond credibility.

I hope I don't come across as a complete **** on that thread, but I think it needed saying and I'm the one with least to lose if I get banned.
