cholesterol

I got my lab results back.
my total cholesterol was 284
My HDL was 148 which is the highest it has ever been for some odd reason.
LDL was 118
triglycerides was 90
ratio chol/hdl=1.9 which is good.

I see my doctor next week....
should I be worried about my cholesterol?

Your HDL, LDL and triglyceride numbers look pretty good to me but your total cholesterol is on the high side.

This information might help when you talk with your doctor next week.

I honestly don't know Bizi. I think anytime that someone's cholesterol levels are off, their doctor recommends a diet change, but you're already a pretty healthy eater. You are going to see the naturopathic doctor, so I think that's something you can discuss with him.

I just had my cholesterol checked (for the first time), too…

Total: 170 (125-200mg/dL)
HDL: 60 (> OR = 46 mg/dL)
LDL: 95 (<130 mg/dL) (calc)
Triglycerides: 74 (< 150 mg/dL)
Ratio Chol/HDL: 2.8 (< OR = 5.0)(calc)

Non-HDL cholesterol: 110 (!59 mg/dL… target is 30mg/dL higher than LDL cholesterol target, whatever that means)

Before when my cholesterol was lets say 240 I would not worry about it because my hdl was so high it was a protector against heart disease.
Now my hdl is even higher and that is why my total is so high. My ratio is good.
I guess I will find out this week...will let you know.
Kay your numbers look great!
