I was so scared and still am

I got a letter from ss saying how much i would be getting next year and it said there would be no deduction for for my prescription premium. I have so many drugs and a high premium. What scared me most was the no high cost of the eight drugs which I would have to pay. the program i thought i was in the max would be 20 dollars. Medicare said i wasn't in that program. social security told me to call medicare. I finally called the third program that i was told I didn't belong in and she told me they were wrong and i belonged and would get limits on the drug costs. I hope she is right.
yesterday I went to the dentist and he said my bridge i stepped on was fine and teased that the cats did it. today I thought my luck ran out.

I hate these when they happen. Its the bureaucracy not knowing what
the others are doing. I'd talk to the group that said, your in there program and ask if you can have it in writing. If that would make it easier for you.

My wife & I are on Social Security & I'm on Medicare. My wife's not quite eligible for Medicare yet. So she has to purchase individual insurance under the Obamacare debacle. It's SO complicated. She handles it. She's good at that sort of thing. I wouldn't have a clue. But it seems like every time things seem to be resolved with it, something else comes up! So kudos to you for getting your coverage straightened out. It can be so complicated. And having to deal with these sorts of mix-ups is so stressful. At least your bridge is fine... :)

The Medicare open enrollment period didn't end until yesterday (Wednesday). If you don't switch plans by the end of it, you should stay in the same plan you were in the year before like I did… so until the end of the enrollment period (yesterday) it looked like I had no coverage for 2017… Since you weren't switching plans you were probably just in the same boat as me.

I think you will be okay, Bobby. Since open enrollment has ended, you can call the drug plan again if you want to be 100% sure you are enrolled for 2017.

I didn't get a letter from social security saying how much I will make next year yet. Are they increasing benefits? Probably not…

mymorgy 12-08-2016 07:20 AM

that wasn't the problem. I was getting extra help before which was great. oh no abby is interested in the tv monitor. I bet she is going to knock it over one of these days
anyways I don't know why i was getting extra help ad then i didn't think i was entitled to it but my social security is low. Now the are saying that i am not getting the benefits from epic which is a new york state program if you are over 65. It puts a limit on the co pay of drugs the most being 20 dollars. I must not be writing clearly. I finally called epic after I was told I wasn't going to get it. Epic said I was getting it for 2017. I don't make much money.
I hope I explained it more clearly this time

OhKay 12-08-2016 07:41 AM

I gotcha this time Bobby :)

Thank you for explaining. I'm glad you are still getting the extra help in 2017.

mymorgy 12-08-2016 08:13 AM

there was another program for extra help which i no longer will be getting. I really don't know how I got it in the first place when I read the enclosed letter saying why i was no longer eligible. This help will be for new yorkers over 65. It isn't as good but still it has limits on how much you pay like 20 dollars and it pays part of your premium like thirty or something dollars. I noticed something seemed to be wrong when it said 80.50.

mymorgy 12-08-2016 10:30 AM

there is a chance my premium will be raised because i am out of the get help problem. they did that the last time. I would wind up paying 80 dollars more than cecilia
I am going to stop topamax gradually because it isn't doing anything and after that I am going to take half a dose of risperdal because it could cause strokes
