Concussion, Post concussion syndrome
Hope I'm posting under the right forum, sorry am a bit confused.
I feel from about three yards fixing a fuse box at night onto my head and fracturing a rib and shoulder. Read that concussions usually last 2 weeks, but its been far beyond that. MY best guess is 4-5 weeks, its hard to tell as so much seems as a long blur. I'm a swiss currently living in peru, i didnt seek any medical attention, and unless one is comatose or has a bleeding of the the brain, nothing will really show up on a ct and mri scan. It's just sometimes its too much, my dog of 9 years was poisoned shortly thereafter, after being a good renter always paying on time, am being kicked out of my house. I have headaches, vomiting almost every day, constant dizziness and nausea, next to crying 6 or so hours a day, for reasons i understand, and other i dont. If you have any suggestions, I would so much appreciate your views. I won't, but a part of me just wishes to give up. I have no one to count out here, but again, not giving up. Any suggestions appreciated Many blessings |
Hi Infinia,
I'm sorry that you fell and had a concussion I had the same type of concussion as you did and it took me over 6 months to get well and fully recover from it. You should get to your Dr. immediately this in nothing to mess, they found that I injuried my brain causing a lot of swelling and some bleeding. The Dr. got that under control but just like you I was dizzy, had wicked headaches and lost my balance terribly. I will tell you that you need to cut back on anything with nutra sweet in it because that will cause more electrical activity in the brain which in turn causes more problems. Your Dr. should do a MRI on you to make sure there's no serious problems. Get plenty of rest and don't do any heavy lifting. I wish you only the best and May God Bless You! Sue |
Hello Sue,
Thank you for sharing your experience, your encouragement and advice. I avoid any processed sugars, let alone nutrasweet. There's no real grocery stores where i live. It's farmers markets with organic food. So I eat, cook, prepare about every vegetable and fruit one can imagine. Although in the last weeks I cheated a few times, and got take-out as it can be difficult to prepare and cook meals right now. I understand the brain is amazing in its plasticity. It just seem's forever now, and sense there's a least a few more months to go. Unfortunately, I can't really afford a CT and MRI scan now, and the public hospitals here are terrible. A doctor could only tell me what i already know, apart from brain surgery (no thanks) don't think there's much that can be done. The first few weeks i sleep/rested 16-18 hours a day. There is progress, but its measured in weeks and months. I'm sure you know this all too well. If you or anyone reading this have advise how to enhance the healing process I would most greatly appreciate it. I feel a part of me posted, because its very nice to share with people that understand. I've heard everything from "you look like youre going to die" and a few weeks later, "you're a hypochondriac" because at times I might look ok on the exterior, but again you know what it's like. May God bless you |
Hi Infinia,
Keep track if anything out of the ordinary happens to you and write down on a calender what's going on and what time of day or night it happens. Hopefully nothing will happen. I am glad to hear that you are staying away from nutra sweet. I did forget to tell you that if you use a cell phone that can cause headaches along with short term memory problems if you use the cell phone ever day for about 30 min. or longer. Also if you are around others who are using cell phones that can cause a lot of headache problems for you so keep alert of any of these possible problems. I wish you only the best and May God Bless You! Sue |
