Alpha Lipoic Acid question.

I've recently been diagnosed with Idiopathic PN. Not too bad at the moment with tingling, numbness and muscle twitching. All limited to below the knee at present. In the absence of any medical cure thought I'd try some supplements that may at least keep progress at bay so after research purchased Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Acetyl l Carnitine and Vit B12 supplements. Further research on ALA discovered someones theory that ALA isn't such a good idea in that due to its half-life in the body it drops any mercury it is holding when the molecule decays. Some of this will be in the brain because of its capability of passing the blood brain barrier. Anyone out there that knows that theory is incorrect?
All a bit of a nuisance as I've now got four bottles in a drawer I'm afraid to use!

You might want to read this recent post:

Do you have the old racemic ALA? (which is used in high doses, because it is poorly soluble and 1/2 of it is inactive)

Or the new NaRALA? which is used in smaller doses. (this is
solubilized and can dissolve better in the stomach)
