hello from Australia - new member

Hello

I am a new member who just found you guys while trying to work out what my MRI for neck pain, arm numbness, clumsiness etc could mean - the details sound quite scary and I've been called back for more tests.

It only took me about 18 months after I started dropping things before I thought I'd better get it checked out!

Anyway, I am lucky to be under the care of a good neurologist already for chronic cluster headaches (ooo maybe 6+ years since diagnosis) and a cyst hanging off my pituitary stalk which gets monitored.

As well as the disc osteophyte complex at c5/6 the surprise finding has been some T2 hyper T1 hypo intense lesions at c7/t1 t1/t2 t2/t3 and t5/t6 the MRI of my cervical spine has also shown up an enlarged thyroid with an 18mm nodule - so all in all yesterday was a pretty ordinary day!

After reading through other people's posts here it looks like a very supportive group of people!

Cheers and here's to things looking less scary!

Hello KatherineLB and welcome to NeuroTalk :)

The interpretation of a MRI is best left to your Neurologist. However, if you have the MRI report there is an "impression" section that will give more information and possible causes for MRI findings. If you could put up the impression section someone may be able to give you some insight.

Katherine,
It sure looks like you have a lot going on. Snoopy's idea about the "impression" or" findings" section will be quite helpful. There are many here dealing with cervical issues.

You were probably advised to see an Endocrinologist for your Thyroid. If possible, would like to know what steps might be taken to address this problem. I currently am dealing with Hypothyroidism and see my Endocrinologist regularly.

Thanks Gerry. I'm still looking for the "impressions" or "findings" sections. As yet I haven't been advised about the endocrinologist - I'm sure I will be after Friday's follow-up ultrasound with possible FNA (fine needle aspiration?). We'll see what we shall see I guess
