Finally I have good news to report
I was thinking it is not often that we get good news in CRPS so I wanted to share this to you all. This piece is my story for the last 39 days and what CRPS has taught (after I joined the gym). I hope it brings a smile to your face!!
Things I have learned from CRPS in 39 days (after joining a gym) It makes me feel like doing a happy dance :) I hope everyone is having low pain day! |
Go Strong Kels!
This is fantastic news! I am so happy to read about your improvements. Your success in breaking out of the CRPS box and getting some of your self and life back is inspiring. Identifying as athletic is a powerful place to be.
Exercise has so many benefits that we already know about. For CRPS, I think the strengthening, stress reduction and mood elevation are important. But the parts we tend not to think about, the nerdy, science-y parts about increases in chemical signaling at a molecular level and micro-circulation changes are incredibly good for CRPS limbs. My doctor tells me every time I see him that he wants me as active as I can be and that I will do best if I use my foot. So far he's right. Trying new things and activities can expand what you believe your limits to be. I find sometimes new activities must be modified and sometimes they don't work out. When they don't, I come back to them another time, months later if needed, and try again. You'll keep surprising yourself with what you can do this way. So proud of you Kelly! Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing. |
Kelly, thank you for sharing your journey with us. It did bring a smile to my face, and it was encouraging to read your list. I have been going through a bad flare and your words helped me to see it for what it is, a flare, the pain will calm down.
This morning I asked my husband for some encouraging words, some words of truth, he has been on this journey with me and can see it more clearly. He reminded me it was a flare, and that many others have them also, and that I will get through it. He is a blessing in my life, as we all know how discouraging living with CRPS can be. I was glad that I asked for his encouraging words today. May we all see the good that is all around us each and every day, gratitude will always be am important and necessary part of my life. When I least feel gratitude, is when I most need gratitude. The sun is shining on a cold February day, we are one day closer to spring. I am finding this winter that the cold does make the pain noticeably worse. I sit with the heating pad wrapped around my foot and it does help some. No matter what I am going through the words....This too shall pass.....are a comfort and a truth that I take to heart. peace zinnia |

I agree that gratitude is so important. It helps keep things in perspective. Right now I am very grateful that InspireToday started this thread and you, Zinnia, and Littlepaw added such thoughtful posts. I hope your pain is low today. I also hope that everyone has a chance to read this thread even if they don't have time to comment. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Shay :grouphug: |

I'm so glad that you've been able to break out and continue to feel better even when it's not perfect (i.e. the creeping). I've been reading your blog and it resonates a strong will and healing vision. I'm happy for you, and I'm looking at things I can do to take some lessons from you. Thanks for sharing. Hotfoot53 |
So cool!
Thanks for sharing this. I went for my first swim today in over a month and it's been a low pain day and I'm feeling damn good. Exercise is definitely a winner.
