My grandson (12 years old) suffered a stroke and has lost movement in one hand and arm. We are looking into this for him. Have any of you heard of it and if so, what do you think? He's had lots of therapy, but nothing is helping so far.

From a physical therapy point of view, I would not go with this unless you first check it out with his therapist. This only works if the extensor muscles are weak and the flexor muscles are functioning. Over exercising the flexor muscles can be bad in some circumstances. If a person has spasticity, I could increase it. It all depends on the patient's situation. I am so sorry he had a stroke at such a young age.

Wow, it looks exactly like a bionic arm, or one of those robot nintendo gadgets that you stand in front of the tv and use the hand instead of a controller.

My goodness, what will they think of next??

Aside though, I am so sorry to hear that he had a stroke. I do hope he has a favorable prognosis.

I've seen these in medical articles,
 

But never in use.
I find it amazing the progress in therapies that are being made in the treatments of stroke patients. There is much learned there about atrophy that is applicable to those with various neuropathies.
Here is hoping that any PN sufferers in need of PT have therapists with open minds! The sooner we are back in motion, the better for US and those around us - j
