Referred to ophthalmologist by eye doctor
Should I be worried? I called my eye doctor just asking for some prescription eye drops because the ones he recommended from over the counter don't work to well for dry eyes. Her assistant was the one I talked too. She said the only ones he could give me were the over the counter ones so he wanted to refer me to the ophthalmologist. I don't understand why he wouldn't prescribe me those prescription drops. I was posting to see what you guys thought? I'm kind of worried now because he suggested the ophthalmologist

An optometrist may not have the type of medical license that allows her to prescribe prescription meds that you need. If you have a tear duct issue, that may be beyond the purview of an optometrist.

I think that's what she meant come to think of it. She was kind of hard to hear talk. For some reason she said the opthamalogists run more tests and can check the back of my eyes to double check and make sure nothing is wrong with them. That has me worried. I don't see why anything would be wrong with them or why she even randomly brought up the back of my eyes lol. They did retena scans already and the eye doctor said the back of the eyes looked perfect. Maybe she was just a bad assistant? Idk
