About me and some questions
Hi I am a 67 year old female and acquired a traumatic brain injury when I was 13, as a result of this injury I have a metal plate on the right side of my head. Lately I have been experiencing some searching for words and confusion. My GP suggested this could be as a result of this previous injury and that there is a direct link between TBIs and later dementia/Alzheimers. This is totally new to me, I have always suffered from anxiety and depression but was not aware this could also be due to my injury. She suggested that I didn't need to see a neurologist at this stage but would refer me to one if I wanted. She thought at this stage neurologist would not be able to do anything. I am interested if anyone can comment on this.

Hi Birgitbee
Welcome to NeuroTalk. I don't know about possible links between TBI and Alzheimer's Disease. However, this Australian site may be a good local source of information and support Alzheimer's Australia | Alzheimer's disease. All the best. |
