MG made worse by thyroid problems

Hi, everyone. I have had MG since 2009. I had my thyroid removed in March and August of last year (half each time) because I had thyroid cancer, after 20 years of on-and-off Graves disease.

Recently, my MG has really been acting up, after a few of years of relative stability. I was trying to figure out what could have triggered it, when my latest thyroid labs came back low (not enough replacement hormone).

I have read that a sluggish thyroid (or in my case an inadequately replaced one) can make MG a lot worse. I'm hoping a higher dose of Synthroid will help me.

Meanwhile, this is a reminder that everyone should get their thyroids checked, but especially people with MG, because it's common to find MG and autoimmune thyroid diseases together. It's a simple blood test.

Wishing you all joy and strength,

Abby
