Failed Fusion LDR ROI-C implant c5-c/6 PEEK Cage
 

I am looking for information on those who have suffered from complications and nerve deficits post ROI-C implant (PEEK cage) in The cervicle spine. I had surgery in 2014 and they put in the LDR ROI-C Peek cage in me neck. The fusion failed and I suffer from chronic pain, neck pain, bilateral arm, elbow, wrist and hand pain, pain between shoulder blades and shoots down my back, headache, numbness and tingling in face, flare ups where I get large hot painful lumps in my neck over the area where the implant was put in. I can not sleep due to the pain. I have had therapy, injections, and multiple types of pain medication that did not work. I am now on a Fentanyl patch and hydrocodone with acetaminophen and it helps but the pain still gets out of control with activity. The doctor who put the implant in kept telling me it would get better and I kept going back stating my problems. He sent me to a pain specialist and then left his practice and moved out of state. I was transferred to one of his partners who does not use the ROI-C Peek cage and is not familiar with it and referred me to another neurosurgeon. The new neurosurgeon also does not use this device and is not familiar with it. He did do an MRI and reviewed my CT scans from my previous physician and noted in fact it did not fuse. Because of my complications and the swelling in my neck I was referred to an allergist for allergy testing. I had the basic metal testing done but now I am having troubles with any of my doctors being able to get the instrument for me to have allergy testing done. I need to find out if this device needs to be removed or if I can have a plate put in to stabalize the motion in my neck. To add to this I now have more stenosis in the foramina openings at C/5-C/6 and C/6-C7. I was a very active person who worked full time and loved my job. I have now been on disability since 2014 and my health continually declines. I have had nerve conduction studies that confirm sever nerve conduction deficits in both arms, wrists and hands. I am now beginning to have headaches and numbness in my jaw, mouth and nose. I have tried searching the internet for information on failed LDR ROI-C implants but have only been able to find several patients who have written about similar complications. I am also having trouble finding any physician who is currently using this product in or near my area. I look forward to hearing from anyone who has had issues with this or advice.

I don't know why the original sureon does not remove this and support the area in one of the very different manners. You made need an anterior 9fromt) approach, like a plate, to stabilize the area. This constant nerve irritation will damage the nerves insulation and will never heal. Go back to the source, call the manufacturer, and get this thing removed, or positioned over again. I do not like this deice as it does not have a "in the bone" screw set, and even their website says additional support may be needed. It's a life decision, but what you are describing means you need to take action. Start with the manufacturer, they will give you a list of specialists. Meet with a Neurologist, a surgeon, and go on from there. Do so quickly, time does not favor these situations. Conservative medicine with acute Spinal problems rarely works.

I'm having EXACTLY the same problem and had a hair analysis that shows huge levels of metal toxins that are what is in the device. I'm speaking with Zimmer Biemet who bought LDR. Have you made any progress in getting it out?

I'm having the same problem it looks like the device failed and I need it removed. Has anyone gotten it out?
