#5 Retained root and infection?

1 Attachment(s)
Hello,

Tooth #5 was badly decayed (with crown) and extracted about two years ago and although not experiencing any pain, have noticed a swollen red/white/beige bump above where this tooth was. Have noticed though that BP readings have also been getting higher in the 150s, 160s and even 170s. Could there still be an infected retained root inside the jawbone and could the high BP readings be related?

A picture of this area is attached. Thanks.

Hi Doitashi,

The answer to all of those questions is possibly yes. However, it could also be a cystic problem and/or sinus related. Both of which may or may not be related to a dental problem. Some diagnostic tools that would help determine what it is are: a panoramic xray, a periapical dental xray and if necessary a CT scan of the maxillary arch and sinus area.
