Permacath questions
 

Has anyone here had a permacath placed for plasmapheresis? I had one placed last week. I wondered what it was like for you after you had it placed. How long did it take for the pain to subside. Did it cause other symptoms also?

Thanks so much for your message. The plasmapheresis is helpful, and there has to be some sort of access to have the treatment done. The permacath is not so easy so far. I hope it is going to get better with time, and I suspect it will, but I am still learning about it. I hope you won't need one, too!

There is likely to be a bit of pain from healing the 'wound'. It may be much more convenient and less painful in the long run after it heals up.

I know that I definitely felt the catheter bounce off my collar bone when they did my plasmapharesis. The catheter felt tender for a couple days, but then it was ok.




On the other hand, you can now get a tattoo over the site, saying "Insert Needle Here" like on a basketball. :cool:
