Extraction and Bone Graft
 

Back in February I had my front 6 upper teeth ground down and a full bridge placed over. 17 days ago I had 7, 8 and 10 extracted and bone grafted with some "grainy" material. 7 had been root canalled over 12 years ago and I also had to have an infection cleaned out at the time of extraction. He stitched me up and placed my bridge back over. His (his being my periodontist) plan working with my regular dentist would be to have the bone graft and eventually the permanent bridge placed and I would be "testing" whether this would work or I would be stuck with no teeth or going bankrupt getting implants.

After 11 days later I finally had my post op and he removed my stitches and said everything was looking really good and had worrried with the infection it might have caused problems. He said there was a small slit in the back somewhere between 7 and 8. He decided not to stitch it and told me to continue rinsing (his way of equal parts listenine and water) and keep on the soft food diet and he would see me in about 10 days which will be this coming Thursday 05/04

This morning I noticed flapping gums and open space between the hanging gums and the top of the bridge above number 7. There is no pain but I'm guessing the the graft has failed? I cannot see any other parts of my gums and have no idea what's going on under this bridge.

I will be calling the perio in the morning but if it has failed what are my options? I'm already very unhappy with the bridge as it is. I feel it is impossible to keep clean and the smell is very unpleasant. Do I have any other options besides an unsanitary bridge or having the other 3 teeth pulled and grafted then implants for all 6?

The periodontist also wants to do root planing and scaling on all other teeth which I have read could cause bacteria to stir up and other teeth can become lose. What do I do? I wasn't in any pain before all of this started. My problem to start any of this was a receding gum above #8. Now I feel I will be left with no front teeth
