The authors reported that statin use was significantly associated with higher PD risk. The association was highest for fat soluble (lipophilic) statins. This association was most pronounced for the initial stage of statin treatment, which the authors surmised was an effect of statins "unmasking" the onset of preclinical Parkinson's.

(and the question continues....This was a retrospective case control analysis)

Always had a suspicion that statins, in my case Vytorin, caused my PD as the timing was so coincidental. It was my own personal theory that I rarely mentioned due to lack of proof. The stuff really lowered my cholesterol numbers, but at what cost....Wondering if anyone else has thought this way?

On the original link I find ironic that the side stories are pro statin LOL
Personally I think the statin manufacturers are trying to find ways to keep sales up - by trying to find other uses..

hmm I wonder when my dad started statins.. vs when his sx showed up..
and no dr told him about supplementing CoQ 10..
